So, I’m queen of DIY, seriously. I DIY my hair, my holiday and birthday gifts, everything! Since I’m always looking for creative outlets, my new love for nail art makes sense. I absolutely love creating new looks and experimenting with designs. DIY nail art also saves you a dollar or two on expensive salon visits. This post gives you a peek into the products I use, how I create the styles and where I store my supplies. I’m including links to some of the products if you wish to make purchases.

You will find affiliate links to the products at the bottom of the post.

THE PRODUCTS

I promise to give some video tutorials at a later date but for now I’m discussing the products I use to create my DIY nail art. First of all, you need a great nail polish kit. A great polish kit includes many bright, easy fade resistant colors. I use J Cat Geluxy Gel Nail Polish. In addition to being reasonably priced, you have a nice assortment of colors.

Next, you will need great nail art guides. So, you say you want to learn different techniques? These books will certainly do the trick. While the books I list below provide wonderful style examples, not all the books provide tutorials. Just keep that in mind when purchasing the books.

Finally, to become a master DIY nail art guru you will need tools and accessories. Rather than post everything I own, I will simply provide a few examples to consider:

So, here’s a few suggestions to get you started on your nail art DIY journey. I will post a few pictures of some of my experiments. Please post pictures of your nail art and let ma know if you purchased any of the items I suggested.

You are truly a DIY queen. I especially love the green nail art. However, I suck at painting my own nails. 😫

I had no idea there were that many tools involved – but I’m one of those people who struggles just to get the paint to stay on for more than 30 minutes, so I’ve never really experimented with anything very fancy on my own.

But I HAVE been really wanting to try nail decals – I’m hoping since they don’t require the same dry time, maybe they’ll last longer for me.

      Hello Brani,

Thanks so much for your comment. The decals are really nice. Be sure to add a clear top coat to the decal. The image will last longer. Have fun!

My GF loves nail art but I keep reminding her to leave it to the experts because she gets so frustrated when things don’t turn out the way she hoped it would.

      Hello Richard,

I can understand your girlfriend’s frustration. If she really enjoys it she will keep practicing until she gets better at it. i’m sure she just likes to express herself with her nail art while saving a few dollars too. Thanks for your comment.

Hi! I do have to say I appreciate the nail art recommendations. I’m doing a program at the library with the teen girls for nail art. So I’m curious to see what’s out there.

I love the Rasta Nails! I started using gels last year and found a fun color changing one. I need that organizer for all my bottles. They are currently in a makeup bag.
